Description
Biotics is the foundation of the Supplements functional supplement range: a daily soft chew built on the Biotics Triad of prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics, then layered with targeted bioactives that work through the gut-immune axis. It is formulated to support a balanced microbiome, the base your dog's whole-body health builds on. Made without meat, wheat, soy or corn.
Biotics is formulated to support:
- A balanced, diverse gut microbiome
- The gut barrier and intestinal lining
- A healthy, well-regulated immune response
- Comfortable, settled digestion
- A healthy inflammatory response
- Skin and coat condition
- Steady energy, mood and everyday vitality
Ingredients
18 targeted bioactives, led by two postbiotics (TruPet™ and Lactobacillus helveticus HA-122), the Calsporin® probiotic and Biolex® MB40 and Fibrofos™ 60 prebiotic fibres, with L-Glutamine, zinc, clinoptilolite, DHAgold™ algae and the botanicals turmeric, boswellia, ginger, chamomile, pineapple and cranberry, plus rapeseed oil for balanced essential fats. Every ingredient and inclusion level is listed in full below. See the Inside This Formula section for the full breakdown.
Cold Extrusion Benefits
Heat is the enemy of many of the actives that make a supplement worth giving, so every Bioactive Bite is cold-extruded, shaped at a gentle 38°C, close to a dog's own body temperature.
Why the gentle process matters:
- Prebiotic fibres stay whole. Fructo-oligosaccharides such as those in Fibrofos™ 60 are broken down by high heat, which splits the fibre into simple sugars and reduces its prebiotic value, so a gentle process helps keep them intact.
- Omega-3 oils stay intact. Fragile fats like the DHA in DHAgold™ oxidise and lose their value when heated, so a low temperature helps protect them.
- Vitamins and antioxidants are preserved. Heat-sensitive nutrients such as natural vitamin E hold their potency rather than being cooked off.
- Plant enzymes and botanicals keep their activity. Delicate compounds, including the bromelain from pineapple and the volatile actives in botanicals like ginger and turmeric, are easily degraded by heat.
- Declared levels are protected. A gentle process means far less is lost in the making, so the inclusion levels on the pack are protected through manufacture.
In short, cold extrusion is how a carefully designed formula still delivers once it is in the bowl.

How Our Subscription Works
HOW DOES IT WORK?
When you sign up, we’ll ask for your dog’s breed, weight, age, activity level and about any health issues they may have.
This helps us calculate their calorie needs, how much Bonza plant-based super dogfood to feed them and how long a box would last. If you have multiple dogs, you’ll get a personalised feeding plan unique to each of them, but they can eat from the same box of food.
We’ll base the frequency of a fresh box arriving based on this feeding plan, but you have full control to pause, cancel, speed up or slow down your subscription as needed.
WHAT IF MY DOG DOESN’T LIKE BONZA?
Just like us, some dogs don’t like change.
It’s also important to remember that sometimes the old food that they are used to may contain lots of additives that made it taste great, even if it isn’t that healthy. Be persistent and try not to be trained by your dog. But sometimes they might just not be into it.
If you’ve transitioned to Bonza and you’re still unsure as to whether your dog likes it or not, we do offer a 100% money-back guarantee on your first box, no questions asked. See Our Health and Happiness Guarantee
WHY SUBSCRIPTION?
The reason we make it a subscription is because your dog, or dogs, need to eat the same number of calories every day to stay in peak condition. Our personalised meal plans ensure we conveniently deliver your next fresh box free to your home at just the right time. You never run out or end up with more food than you need. No mercy dashes and lugging heavy bags of dogfood home from the supermarket.
If you do not wish to continue the subscription, it is very easy to cancel or pause at any time in your account dashboard. We offer a commitment-free, rolling subscription plan.
IS MY SUBSCRIPTION FLEXIBLE?
Completely.
Our calculator takes your dog’s age, weight, intactness and activity levels into consideration and calculates the correct number of calories they require each day.
You can change any of your dog’s details in your account at any time and we will recalculate the number of calories they need and how often we need to deliver a fresh box of plant-based goodness direct to your doorstep.
Decided to mix-feed? No problem. In your account dashboard you can adjust the percentage of their daily food you want to feed them Bonza, and we will re-calculate how often we need to send their next box.
AM I IN A CONTRACT?
No. Your dog’s Bonza meal plan is a commitment-free rolling subscription plan. A simple click in your account dashboard gives you complete control over every aspect of your dog’s meal plan.
WHAT IF I RUN OUT OR HAVE TOO MUCH?
Our calculator should mean you never face this prospect.
However, we’ve made it super simple to pause, slow down or speed up your subscription with a click of a button so you’re only getting your dog’s food when you need it.
We always remind you 5 days ahead of sending the next box of fresh food for your dog.
WILL YOU WARN ME WHEN MY CARD IS TO BE CHARGED?
Sure will. We will let you know 5 days in advance of when your next fresh box is due to ship and when it will be charged.
Each email contains a quick link to choose a new order date that you’d prefer or a button for us to send it ASAP if you’re running low.
We want feeding your dog Bonza to be as easy for you, as it is enjoyable for them. Our website is self-service, so you don’t need to jump through any hoops to adjust anything, but we’re on live chat just in case you need a hand.
ELEVATE YOUR DOG’S FOOD BEYOND SIMPLE NUTRITION
When Your Dog's Internal Systems Struggle Silently
It doesn't always look dramatic. Maybe they pick up every bug going. Maybe their coat has lost its shine. Maybe they're just not quite themselves, less energy, more sluggish, not bouncing back the way they used to.
These subtle shifts often share a common root: a gut microbiome that is out of balance. When the microbial community in your dog's digestive system is disrupted, by processed food, antibiotics, stress or simply time, it affects far more than digestion. The gut is where around 70% of the immune system resides, where key neurotransmitters are produced, and where the body's inflammatory responses are regulated.
Biotics is designed to support this foundation.
Not to mask signs with a quick fix, but to support the microbial balance that underpins your dog's immune resilience, digestive comfort and whole-body wellbeing from the inside out.
What Biotics Supports
Six Ways Microbiome Balance Supports Your Dog's Health
Each benefit connects back to the gut, because the microbiome doesn't just influence digestion. It influences everything.
Microbiome Diversity
A diverse gut microbiome is associated with better overall health. The Biotics Triad supports microbial richness with prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics working together.
The science
Fibrofos™ 60 (chicory FOS) and Biolex® MB40 selectively feed beneficial bacteria, while Calsporin® (Bacillus velezensis DSM 15544) at 7.5 × 10⁸ CFU adds a studied spore-forming strain, together supporting microbial richness.
For the evidence, see the Biotics TriadImmune Support
Around 70% of a dog's immune tissue sits in the gut. Supporting a balanced microbiome supports a healthy, well-regulated immune response.
The science
Two postbiotics, TruPet™ (142.5mg) and Lactobacillus helveticus HA-122, alongside the mannan-oligosaccharides in Biolex® MB40, interact with the gut-associated immune tissue that makes up the majority of the body's immune system.
For the evidence, see the gut-immune axisDigestive Comfort
Prebiotic fibres and natural enzymes support smooth, settled digestion and good stool quality day to day.
The science
Fibrofos™ 60 supports short-chain fatty acid production and stool quality, while bromelain from pineapple, plus ginger and chamomile, support the breakdown of food and settled digestion.
For the evidence, see the microbiome pillarGut Barrier Support
L-Glutamine, zinc and postbiotic compounds support the integrity of the gut lining, part of a comfortable, well-functioning gut.
The science
L-Glutamine (48.75mg per chew) fuels the cells that line the gut, zinc supports the gut-barrier lining, and postbiotic compounds from TruPet™ and L. helveticus HA-122 support the integrity of the intestinal lining.
For the evidence, see our gut barrier guideHealthy Inflammatory Response
Botanicals such as turmeric and boswellia, alongside algae-sourced Omega-3, support a healthy inflammatory response.
The science
Boswellia serrata, turmeric (providing curcumin, with black pepper extract to aid absorption) and ginger are traditionally used to support a healthy inflammatory response, alongside DHAgold™ algae, a source of long-chain Omega-3 (DHA).
For the evidence, see natural anti-inflammatories for dogsWhole-Body Vitality
When the gut is well supported, so is everything downstream, from skin and coat to steady energy and mood.
The science
The gut communicates with the rest of the body along the gut-organ axes, gut-skin, gut-brain, gut-joint and more, which is how supporting the gut supports skin, mood, mobility and everyday energy.
For the evidence, see the gut-organ axesHow the Biotics Triad Works
The Science Behind Biotics
-
Feed & Populate
Prebiotic fibres, Fibrofos™ 60 and Biolex® MB40, feed the beneficial bacteria already living in your dog's gut, while Calsporin® (Bacillus velezensis DSM 15544), a studied spore-forming probiotic, survives digestive transit to add more of them. The more good bacteria at work, and the more varied they are, the better supported your dog's microbiome, and that microbiome is the foundation everything else is built on.
Fibrofos™ 60 feeds beneficial bacteria · Calsporin® delivers 7.5 × 10⁸ CFU per chew
-
Deliver the Postbiotics
Two named postbiotics, TruPet™ and Lactobacillus helveticus HA-122, deliver the beneficial compounds those bacteria produce. Those compounds feed the cells that line the gut wall, the thin, living barrier that sits between what your dog eats and the rest of their body. A well-nourished gut lining is what keeps everyday digestion settled, comfortable and resilient, which is why this layer matters as much as the bacteria themselves.
TruPet™ 142.5mg · L. helveticus HA-122 1.35 × 10⁹ cells
-
Support the Whole Dog
A well-supported gut stays in constant, two-way communication with the rest of the body along the gut-organ axes. That is how caring for your dog's gut helps support their immune function first, then their skin and coat, their mood, their joints and beyond. One Gut. Whole Dog.™ is not just a name. It is how the body actually works.

Your Dog's Journey With Biotics
Supporting microbial balance is a gradual, biological process, not an instant fix. Here is what many owners report as a general guide.
-
Week 1-2
Settling In
The probiotic gets to work while the prebiotic fibres start feeding beneficial bacteria. Some dogs have a brief adjustment as the microbiome shifts, which usually passes quickly.
-
Month 1
Digestive Comfort
Many owners notice more consistent stools, less wind and generally calmer digestion as the gut environment becomes more hospitable to beneficial species.
-
Month 2-3
Whole-Body Signs
As the gut barrier and immune signalling are supported, many owners report broader changes: a healthier-looking coat, steadier energy and a dog that seems more themselves.
-
Ongoing
Maintained Balance
Consistent daily use helps maintain the microbial diversity and gut-barrier support that Biotics provides, keeping the foundation strong against everyday stressors.
Many owners notice changes over the first few weeks. Giving Biotics consistently each day matters more than giving more.

FAQ
Your Questions Answered
What are Bonza Supplements?
Supplements are daily soft-chew supplements for dogs. Every Bite is built on a gut-health foundation of named biotics, then layered with targeted bioactives that work along a specific gut-organ axis to support a particular concern, from digestion and skin to calm, joints and senior vitality.
What is Biotics, and who is it for?
Biotics is the foundation chew in the Supplements range, and the place to start if you are not sure which Bite your dog needs. It suits any adult dog or puppy from 12 weeks whose owner wants to support a balanced gut microbiome and the immune health that depends on it. It combines the full Biotics Triad of prebiotics, a probiotic and postbiotics with 18 targeted bioactives, including L-Glutamine, zinc and botanicals, to support microbial balance, the gut lining and a healthy, well-regulated immune response.
What is the Biotics Triad?
It is the three-part gut foundation behind Biotics. Prebiotics feed the good bacteria, a probiotic adds more of them, and postbiotics deliver the beneficial compounds they produce. Together they support microbial diversity and the gut barrier, the base every other system builds on. Read more about the Biotics Triad.
What are the gut-organ axes?
The gut is in constant two-way communication with the rest of the body along pathways known as axes: gut-immune, gut-skin, gut-brain, gut-joint and more. Each Bite is built to work through a specific axis, which is how supporting the gut can support immunity, skin, mood, joints and beyond. Explore the gut-organ axes.
Can I give Biotics during or after a course of antibiotics?
Many owners do, as antibiotics can disrupt the gut microbiome. Calsporin® is a spore-forming probiotic, and the postbiotics in Biotics do not need to be alive to do their work. Talk to your vet before starting while your dog is on antibiotics, as they may suggest giving Biotics a few hours apart from each dose.
Which Bioactive Bite is right for my dog?
Choose by the concern that matters most: Belly for digestion, Block for skin and coat, Bliss for calm, Bounce for joints and mobility, Banish for flea-season skin and coat support, and Boost for the senior years. If you are not sure where to begin, we suggest Biotics to support a balanced microbiome first. You can compare all seven Bites on our Supplements page.
Are Supplements suitable for sensitive dogs, puppies and seniors?
Supplements are made without meat, wheat, soy, corn or artificial additives, which suits many dogs with sensitivities. They are formulated for dogs from 12 weeks and older. If your dog has a medical condition or takes medication, check with your vet before starting.
What is Biotics free from, and is it suitable for dogs with allergies?
Biotics is made without meat, wheat, soy or corn, so it contains no chicken or beef, the proteins most often behind food sensitivities in dogs. That makes it a gentle daily choice for many sensitive dogs. If your dog has a diagnosed allergy, check the full ingredient list above before starting, and have a word with your vet if you are unsure.
Why is Biotics plant-based?
Plant-based by consequence, not by trend. The most common food sensitivities in dogs are animal proteins like chicken and beef, so a plant-based formula sidesteps them, which is what makes Biotics gentle on sensitive dogs. It suits vegan households too, but the reason we make it this way is health, not ideology.
Is Biotics suitable for pregnant or nursing dogs?
For pregnant or nursing dogs, check with your vet before starting. Their nutritional needs change during this time, and your vet can advise on what is right for them.
Are Supplements safe?
Yes. Supplements are food supplements made from food-grade ingredients at gentle, effective levels, formulated by our nutritionist and approved by our veterinary advisory board. They are supplements, not medicines, and are designed to complement a balanced diet rather than replace veterinary care. They are made for daily, long-term use, with no need to cycle on and off. If your dog has a health condition or takes medication, check with your vet before starting.
Are there any side effects?
A small number of dogs have slightly softer stools or a little more wind in the first few days as the microbiome adjusts to the probiotic and prebiotic fibres. This usually settles within one to two weeks. If your dog has a known sensitivity to any listed ingredient, check with your vet before starting.
Who formulated Biotics?
Biotics was formulated by Bonza's founder, Glendon Lloyd, who holds Diplomas in Canine Nutrition and Dog Nutrigenomics, both with Distinction, and it is approved by our Veterinary Advisory Board. Every ingredient is selected on published research and included at a meaningful level.
Are the ingredients backed by evidence?
Yes. Every active is chosen for a reason and included at a meaningful level, not a token pinch. Biotics is nutritionist formulated and vet approved, and you can see each ingredient, its inclusion level and the published research behind it in the full formula above.
What is cold extrusion, and why does it matter?
Cold extrusion is a low-temperature way of shaping the chews. Every Bite is formed at just 38°C, close to a dog's body temperature, rather than the high heat of conventional cooking and standard extrusion. That matters because heat degrades many of the actives we use, from prebiotic fibres and omega-3 oils to vitamins and delicate plant compounds. Keeping the process gentle helps preserve them, so the levels shown in the formula are protected through manufacture.
How long until I see a difference?
Changes in the gut begin quickly, and many owners notice more settled digestion within the first few weeks as the microbiome rebalances. Broader signs, such as a healthier-looking coat and steadier energy, usually follow over two to three months. Giving Biotics consistently each day matters more than giving more.
When is the best time to give Biotics?
Any time of day. Many owners give it with a main meal, which makes the routine easy to keep. Consistency matters more than timing.
Can I give Biotics with medication or other supplements?
Biotics is a food supplement rather than a medicine, and it generally sits comfortably alongside a balanced diet and other supplements. If your dog takes medication or has a health condition, check with your vet first, as they can advise on timing and suitability.
How many Bites should I give my dog?
Give Biotics daily by your dog's weight: one Bite up to 10kg, two Bites for 10 to 20kg, three Bites for 20 to 30kg, and four Bites over 30kg. Give as a treat or with food, and keep to the same time each day. Consistency matters more than giving more.
Can my dog have too many?
Biotics is made from food-grade ingredients at gentle levels, so an extra Bite now and then is not a cause for alarm. Stick to the daily amount for your dog's weight for the best results. If your dog ever gets into a whole pack, a large one-off amount may cause temporary loose stools, so keep an eye on them and contact your vet if you have any concerns.
Can I give my dog more than one Bite at a time?
Yes. The Bites are designed to work together, and many owners pair Biotics with one targeted Bite as a daily routine, such as Block for skin and coat, Bliss for calm or Bounce for joints. When combining more than one, introduce them gradually and follow the feeding guide on each pack by your dog's weight.
Can I give Bites alongside my dog's usual food?
Yes. Supplements are a daily soft chew given as a treat or with food, so they fit alongside whatever your dog already eats, including our Superfoods & Ancient Grains. If you are introducing more than one Bite, add them gradually.
What if my dog doesn't like the Supplements?
Most dogs take to the soft chews readily, but if yours does not, that is exactly what our Health & Happiness Guarantee is for. Get in touch and we will make it right.
What is the Health & Happiness Guarantee?
Your dog's health and happiness is our number one priority. If your dog doesn't take to their Bites, or you're not completely happy for any reason, you get your money back, no quibbles, with no need to return anything: simply donate any unwanted Bites to a friend or a nearby animal shelter. You can read the full terms on our Health & Happiness Guarantee page.
How does Subscribe & Save work?
Subscribe & Save takes 10% off every delivery and delivers on a schedule matched to your dog's weight. You can pause, change or skip a delivery, or cancel, at any time.
How should I store them?
Keep the pouch in a cool, dry place and reseal it after each use to keep the chews fresh.
